GENERAL DESCRIPTION & APPLICATIONS |
||
Citrulline,
alpha-amino delta-carbamido n-valeric acid,
is found in mainly watermelon fruits. Citrulline is not built into proteins,
as it is not coded for by DNA. It is formed as an intermediate
in a cycle of biochemical
reactions called urea cycle or ornithine cycle which remove ammonia in a form
of urea or uric
acid. Citrulline is not built into proteins, as it is not coded for by DNA.It
is known that citrulline is a central part of the urine
excretion function of watermelon.
Insufficiency
removal of nitrogenous waste, mainly ammonia, can leads
liver failure. It is also known that citrulline improves immune response.
