APPLICATIONS

Chlorobromomethane,
the shortest hydrocarbon having bromine as well as chlorine,
is used as a reaction solvent and flotation agent.
It is used as an intermediate for organic synthesis, agrochemicals
(biocides)
and pharmaceuticals. Haloalkanes are reactive towards nucleophiles
for substitution reactions. Chlorobromomethane is also used in fire extinguishers. |
