APPLICATIONS

Histamine is a biogenic amine chemical involved in local immune responses as well as regulating physiological function in the gut and acting as a neurotransmitter. New evidence also indicates that histamine plays a role in chemotaxis of white blood cells.
Histamine (1H-imidazole-4-ethanamine) is a biologically active hydrophilic amine widely distributed in nature and is found in animal tissues, plant and as well as in insect venoms. The highest concentration is found in lungs. It is formed by the decarboxylation of the amino acid histidine. It is be synthesized from citric acid outside the body. Histamine is a mediator of local immune responses, and it functions as a a neurotransmitter and as a regulator of physiological function. Histamine agonist drugs stimulate their receptors by triggering a response that increases or decreases the cell's activity but are not commonly used. Examples of histamine agonists include:
Agonist
