GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND APPLICATIONS |
||
Chemically, Cypermethrin is Cyclopropanecarboxylic acid, 3-(2,2-dichloroethenyl)-2,2-dimethyl-, cyano(3-phenoxyphenyl) methyl ester or (+ -)-Alpha-cyano-3-phenoxybenzyl-(+ -)-cis, trans-3-(2,2-dichlorovinyl)-2,2- dimethylcyclopropane carboxylate. Cypermethrin is the ISO name for the pure racemic compound. Technical cypermethrin is a racemic mixture of eight possible isomers which have their own chemical and biological properties.These isomers are commonly grouped into four cis- and four trans-isomers. The commercial products have available contain more than 90% cypermethrin and the ratio of cis : trans varies from 50:50 to 40:60. The cis-group is more powerful. Its structure is similar with pyrethrum obtained from chrysanthemum and used as a natural insecticide. But synthetic cypermethrin is more stable and biological effective than its natural model. Cypermethrin, a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide, acts as a stomach and contact insecticide which is effective against a wide range of insect pests in cereals, cotton, citrus, fruit trees, rape, soybean, tobacco, tomatoes, vegetables, vines, forestry and other crops. | ||
