GENERAL
DESCRIPTION & APPLICATIONS
|
doxazosin mesylate,
a quinazoline derivative, is an alpha1-receptor antagonist
used as an antihypertensive agent which blocks of alpha1-adrenergic receptors
and has a longer half life than that of prazosin. The chemical designation
1-(4-amino-6,7-dimethoxy-2-quinazolinyl)-4-(1,4-benzodioxan-2-yl carbonyl)
piperazine methanesulfonate. It is a white to off-white crystalline powder; slightly soluble
in water, alcohols; soluble in dimethylsulfoxide, dimethylformamide ands acetic
acid; insoluble in acetone and methylene chloride. |
