APPLICATIONS

Norgestrel, having similar structure with steroid hormone, is used as a progestin used in certain birth control pills in combination with an estrogenic compound (ethinyl estradiol). It is a white crystalline powder melting point 240 C. The chemical designation is 13-Ethyl-17-hydroxy-18,19-dinor-17alpha-pregn-4-en-20-yn-3-one.
