APPLICATIONS
|
Benzophenone derivatives are used as an ingredient of sunscreening agent to
absorb the UV radiation and to prevent the formation of free radicals. The
principal structure is aromatic molecules conjugated with carbonyl group.
Depending on substituents on benzophenone molecule, the pattern of the UV
absorption applications can be selected. They are used extensively in plastics
and cosmetics. 4,4'-Dihydroxybenzophenone has two hydroxyl substituents in the
two para positions. |
