GENERAL DESCRIPTION & APPLICATIONS |
||
Guaethol (2-ethoxy phenol) is an homologue of guaiacol (2-methoxy phenol). Alkoxy phenol molecules are used in perfumeries, flavorings, and in medicine such as local antiseptic, biocide and antiseptic. They are used in the manufacture of vanillin. In industry they are also used in manufacturing stabilizers and antioxidants for plastics and rubbers. Propenyl guaethol is a white powder with a vanilla flavor; melting point 85-86 C; soluble in fats, essential oils, and edible solvents; used for artificial vanilla flavoring. | ||
