4-Dioxanone is
a monomer to produce biodegradable polymers
which are instable by hydrolysis or enzymatic ester linkage
cleavages in the presence of water. Monomers of biodegradable polymer
have heteroatom-containing structure such as lactones, hydroxybutyric acids,
lactides, glycolides, anhydrides
and phosphazenes. Other biodegradable polymers include
starch,
cellulose, and chitosan which refer to the natural polymer. Biodegradable polymers
have applications in the field of medical devices, controlled-drug-release,
and tissue
engineering. |
