SAFETY

HAZARD NOTES

Flammable. Irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin

EYE

Causes eye irritation. May cause chemical conjunctivitis and corneal damage

SKIN

Causes skin irritation. May cause cyanosis of the extremities

INGESTION

May cause gastrointestinal irritation with nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. May cause cardiac disturbances. May cause methemoglobinemia, cyanosis (bluish discoloration of skin due to deficient oxygenation of the blood), convulsions, and death. Ingestion of large amounts may cause CNS depression

INHALATION

Causes respiratory tract irritation. May cause methemoglobinemia, cyanosis (bluish discoloration of skin due to deficient oxygenation of the blood), convulsions, tachycardia, dyspnea (labored breathing), and death. Aspiration may lead to pulmonary edema. Vapors may cause dizziness or suffocation. May cause cardiac abnormalities. Can produce delayed pulmonary edema. Inhalation at high concentrations may cause CNS depression and asphixiation. May cause burning sensation in the chest.

CHRONIC

May cause methemoglobinemia, which is characterized by chocolate-brown colored blood, headache, weakness, dizziness, breath shortness, cyanosis (bluish skin due to deficient oxygenation of blood), rapid heart rate, unconsciousness and possible death. Effects may be delayed.
