SAFETY
|
HAZARD
NOTES |
Flammable. Irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin |
EYE
|
Causes eye irritation. May cause chemical conjunctivitis and
corneal damage |
SKIN |
Causes skin irritation. May cause cyanosis of the extremities |
INGESTION |
May cause gastrointestinal irritation with nausea, vomiting and
diarrhea. May
cause cardiac disturbances. May cause methemoglobinemia, cyanosis (bluish
discoloration of skin due to deficient oxygenation of the blood),
convulsions, and death. Ingestion of large amounts may cause CNS
depression |
INHALATION |
Causes respiratory tract irritation. May cause methemoglobinemia,
cyanosis
(bluish discoloration of skin due to deficient oxygenation of the blood),
convulsions, tachycardia, dyspnea (labored breathing), and death. Aspiration may lead to
pulmonary edema. Vapors may cause dizziness or
suffocation. May cause cardiac abnormalities. Can produce delayed pulmonary
edema. Inhalation at high concentrations may cause CNS depression
and asphixiation. May cause burning sensation in the chest. |
CHRONIC |
May cause methemoglobinemia, which is characterized by
chocolate-brown
colored blood, headache, weakness, dizziness, breath shortness, cyanosis
(bluish skin due to deficient oxygenation of blood), rapid heart rate,
unconsciousness and possible death. Effects may be delayed. |
