Olanzapine is an antipsychotic agent to treat psychiatric conditions such as schizophrenia, hallucinations, delusions, hostility and other bipolar disorder. It is chemically described as 2-methyl-4-(4-methyl-1-piperazinyl)-10H-thieno[2,3-b] [1,5]benzodiazepine. It is a yellowish powder; insoluble in water; sparingly soluble in acetonitrile, ethyl acetate and soluble in chloroform; melting point 190 - 195 C | ||
