Matrine and oxymatrine are tetracyclic quinolizine alkaloids obtained mainly from Sophora flavescens. They are known to have anti-apoptosis effects and pharmacological effects of anthelmintics, antiarrhythmia, Antiinflammatory (non-steroidal) and antineoplastic.
